Hello Team,
Hope everyone woke up excited for the day ahead! I know the Senior Leadership Team and I were as we chatted through the situation unfolding just off the coastline today.
Of course, I am referring to the Category 3 Kaiju that has been spotted, tagged and is currently being monitored diligently by the unbelievable team at the National Kaiju & Beast Agency (NKBA) down in Washington.
On a side note, before we dive into the organization’s response: I do want to say that I spent a fair amount of time with Agency Head, Thaddeus O’Sion, for a bit at a symposium last year. With that in mind, I can assure you with firsthand knowledge that the situation is being handled by the utmost qualified team the agency has ever had in its eight-year lifespan since Breach Day.
But on to how this affects us and, more importantly, our mission. And quite simply, team, I am here to deliver you one resounding message.
It doesn’t at all.
Our work is simply too important to stall for anything that, quite frankly, is so beyond the scope of your, your manager’s and even the Senior Leadership Team’s control. We must move forward and hit our Q4 deliverables in order ensure a smooth release of our new software suite. No one said that changing the retail space was going to be easy. But if the work was easy, then everyone would be doing it.
If you remember our beginning of the fiscal year and our first All Hands meeting before our Q1 Reorganization and strategic realignment, I challenged all of you to get scrappy and, most of all, uncomfortable.
Well, today is one of those days.
And tomorrow will likely be. And then the next day. And then, the day after that. Because the work is critical. And it is necessary.
Because of this, we are going to deny all work from home requests unless the following criteria are met:
- The Kaiju makes landfall and a shelter in place, evacuation or related orders from the NKBA are issued.
That’s it.
That is the only reason that our offices will be closed. For the sake of belaboring the point, we will be in the office and at our desks until a directive by all necessary federal agencies tells us that we can’t.
Please feel free to direct any and all questions to your immediate managers and your reporting chain. They have been given a specialty briefing packet pre-approved by our Legal Ops, People Relations, and your local Calamity Protocol teams.
Until those orders come (which to be clear they may not!), I look forward to seeing everyone in the office this week.
Have a great beginning of the week, team!
Regards,
Ethan Christopher, Chief Executive Officer & Key Disruption Architect
